Finding the right power supply for your laptop is not a
difficult or inconvenient process. Just a little research! The information
needed to locate the correct power supply can be easily found on your laptop
and old charger.
You can start your search for notebook power supplies of all
brands here
The information to be provided to the seller is the make and
model of your computer, so you must make sure that the output power corresponds
to that of our old power supply.
The information you are looking for is shown on the label on
the power supply, as in the figure:
In this case, for example, we are interested in these
values:
OUTPUT: 19V - 4.74A
What we want to determine is the active power of the power
supply that we measure in Voltampere (VA), then we multiply the power
differential measured in Volt by the intensity of current that we measure in
Ampere. The result represents our power that we measure in VA (dimensionally
equal to the Watt).
In our example we get a power value of 90.06 watts.
In choosing the replacement power supply, we will therefore
have to identify a charger with a power of not less than 90 watts.
Finally, make sure that the connections of the charger adapt
to our pc.
So in summary:
What are the elements to consider when choosing a
replacement power supply?
·
PC Make and Model
·
PC output power, measured as Volt x Ampere
·
Power supply connections
·
Can I buy a universal power supply?
An alternative is to buy a universal power supply that has
different connectors, until reaching a maximum power value specified by the
manufacturer.
In this case, however, make sure that the power of our old
charger does not exceed the maximum power of the power supply.
